The Debt is a personal project that I'm working on. Originally it was written as a pitch for my university. Quickly it became it's own thing and poof, I started working on concept art. I had experience in 3D programs like Maya and Blender but I wasn't there yet. At the start of 2022 I set myself to learn concept art inside out. I started learning from the best concept artists / digital painters in the industry like Jama Jurabaev, Friendly Robot, Alberto Mielgo, Darek Zabrocki, John Sweeney, Antoine Boutin and many many others. I hope you like it. There will be more in the future...

The story was inspired by my love of post-apocalyptic worlds. When I played The Last of Us Part II it blew my mind. As you can see it influenced my project a lot. I was inspired by the games atmosphere, story and vibe. The game portraits the wet and flooded Seattle really well, so I looked at the game as reference.

I like to keyshot or storyboard my stories first so I can understand the world better. I am a very visual person and I can build my story by doing concept art first then write the script. My reason for this is that maybe one little thing in the scene can have a big impact on the story, for example this scene originally was made for a transition area in the story but now I have more ideas because of the "PAY" sign. I can hide guys waiting for my protagonist in the bushes that want him to pay his debts, and so on...
